Pedestrian Accidents in California

Throughout California, it is not uncommon to encounter a pedestrian strolling along a road, municipal street, or near developed areas. This is especially true considering the state’s consistently temperate climate throughout the year. Nevertheless, despite the pedestrians’ universal recognition, collisions involving them and vehicles traversing our thoroughfares are common.

Pedestrians are particularly susceptible to severe or potentially fatal injuries in the absence of vehicle protection or safety features such as airbags. Regrettably, California has positioned itself as the ninth most hazardous state in terms of pedestrian injuries and fatalities across the United States in recent years. In the preceding five years alone, over a thousand pedestrian fatalities were recorded. Moreover, according to the most recent census, the Sacramento metropolitan area, which has 2.4 million inhabitants, ranks ninth worst for pedestrians in the United States. Pedestrians across the Golden State face a serious risk every time they step out onto our streets.
