Fresno County, CA — A tragic accident in Fresno County has left four people dead and two others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The fatal collision occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Shaw and Floyd avenues. CHP reported that a van traveling south on Floyd attempted to enter the intersection from a two-way stop when it was struck by a westbound Nissan Altima on Shaw Avenue.
The Nissan impacted the driver’s side of the van, causing the van to overturn onto its side. Both vehicles ignited in flames following the crash.
Two male passengers from the Nissan managed to escape with moderate injuries, while both drivers and one passenger from each vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the crash.
Additionally, two other passengers in the van sustained minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating the possible involvement of alcohol and/or drugs as contributing factors in the collision.
