[01-12-2025] – Two Dead and Five Injured from Motorcycle Crashes in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA – Sacramento witnessed a tragic series of motorcycle incidents over the weekend, resulting in the deaths of two men and injuries to five others. Within a 24-hour period, both a 42-year-old and a 56-year-old lost their lives in separate motorcycle accidents.

In a solo motorcycle crash on Sunday afternoon, an 18-year-old man sustained significant injuries. This incident took place just after 4:30 p.m. on the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp at Q Street in Sacramento. Initially, it was reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that the young man had died, but later updates confirmed he was alive despite his serious injuries.

Earlier that same Sunday morning, tragedy struck when a vehicle collided with a group of 13 motorcycles on westbound Highway 50, resulting in one fatality and injuring four others. The deceased was identified as Brian Kipton Shaw, 42, from Paradise. The crash, which occurred around 8:45 a.m. east of Highway 99, has been classified as an accident by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Officer Mark Leavitt stated that no charges or arrests have been made related to the incident. โ€œAt this point, we do not believe it to be intentional,โ€ he added, confirming that there was no involvement of driving under the influence.
