Sloughhouse, CA — A three-car crash in Sacramento County on Monday evening left one person dead and two others injured, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The accident occurred around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Jackson and Ione roads. CHP reported that a woman driving a Toyota Rav-4 had stopped at a stop sign on northbound Ione Road before turning left onto Jackson Road.
While making the turn, her vehicle entered the path of a westbound Buick Encore, causing a collision. The impact forced the Buick into the eastbound lanes of Jackson Road, where it collided head-on with a Ford F-150 driven by another woman.
The male driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Ford driver sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. The Toyota driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors. Both sides of Jackson Highway were closed for an extended period as investigations continued.
