Los Angeles, CAย โ A suspected DUI driver fleeing police near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) caused a deadly crash early Friday morning that left one passenger dead and another injured, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 AM near the intersection of South Sepulveda Boulevard and West Century Boulevard, an area adjacent to one of LAXโs busiest access routes.
A passenger in the suspectโs vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, LAPD Officer Nelson confirmed. Meanwhile, a passenger in the other vehicle, considered an innocent victim, was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
The suspected DUI driver attempted to flee the crash site on foot, but was apprehended after a brief chase and also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver was reportedly evading officers when the vehicle slammed into another car near LAX. Police have not yet released the suspectโs identity, and the incident remains under active investigation.

Century Boulevard was closed between Vicksburg Avenue and Sky Way.
