Sacramento, CA (April 12, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday morning on southbound Business 80 near the American River, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred when an Audi A6 traveling in the No. 3 lane encountered a pedestrian in the roadway. Despite the driver’s attempt to swerve, the vehicle was unable to avoid the individual.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Traffic in the southbound lanes was significantly impacted for several hours as CHP investigated the incident and worked to clear the area. Officials have not determined why the pedestrian was in the roadway, and the investigation remains ongoing.
