Sacramento, CA (April 25, 2025) – A shooting incident on Friday morning led to a crash and lane closures on southbound Highway 99 near the Mariposa Road exit, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Officials reported receiving calls around 9:07 a.m. regarding a vehicle crash caused after the driver was shot. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, though their current condition remains unknown.
According to investigators, the vehicle showed at least three bullet holes – one under the passenger side door handle, another in the passenger side mirror, and one in the dashboard. The passenger window was shattered, and the vehicle also suffered crash-related damage to the front driver’s side. A mark on the center divider approximately 50 yards from the car indicated where the impact occurred.
The CHP has not yet confirmed whether the shooting was targeted or random. No suspect information has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
