San Diego, CA (May 3, 2025) – A fatal crash involving five vehicles shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 805 for several hours Saturday morning, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The incident occurred just before 9:00 a.m. near Logan Avenue, between the Legacy Walk and Lincoln Park neighborhoods. Emergency responders arrived to find multiple damaged vehicles and several individuals in need of medical attention.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Four others sustained injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. The identities and conditions of the injured have not been released.
All southbound lanes north of 43rd Street were closed for the investigation and cleanup. Caltrans confirmed that the lanes reopened by 2:20 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Further details are pending.
