San Francisco, CA – Three Injured in DUI Crash Involving Rookie Police Officer

San Francisco, CA (May 16, 2025) – Three individuals were injured, one critically, when a rookie San Francisco Police officer, off duty at the time, crashed into their minivan early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in the Sunset District on Sunset Boulevard.

The driver of the sedan, 28-year-old Ryan Kwong, who was suspected of driving under the influence, collided with the minivan at a high rate of speed. Three people in the minivan were taken to the hospital, with one reported in critical condition. Kwong and his passenger were not seriously injured.

Kwong, a member of the San Francisco Police Departmentโ€™s newest academy class, had graduated just days before the crash. He was arrested and charged with DUI-related offenses.

Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we hope for their full recovery.
