San Jose, CA (May 17, 2025) – A fatal motorcycle crash occurred early Saturday morning on US-101 northbound, just south of the I-280 interchange. The collision was reported around 1:53 a.m., and emergency crews quickly responded to the scene.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash involved a motorcycle and a white Cadillac sedan. Initial reports suggest the motorcyclist was assisting with refueling when the Cadillac struck him on the right shoulder. A witness stated that the rider was found in the slow lane with severe head trauma. Despite life-saving efforts, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage. The motorcycle was located approximately 30 feet off the roadway, while the Cadillac had major front-end damage and was found on the right shoulder. The CHP has initiated an investigation and evidence tows were carried out to preserve details of the crash.
The incident temporarily blocked multiple lanes of traffic, causing delays on US-101 NB. Emergency crews worked through the early morning hours to secure the scene and reopen the highway.
