Visalia, CA (August 08, 2025) – One person lost their life in a late-night collision on Highway 63 near Avenue 352, close to Visalia in Tulare County. The crash occurred on August 8 at approximately 11:21 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
A 49-year-old man was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox SUV at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a 2023 Kenworth commercial semi-truck pulling a gasoline tank trailer. The big rig was slowing down to turn onto Avenue 352 when it was hit from behind. The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
CHP noted that drugs may have been a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the full circumstances of the collision.
