[01-14-2025] - DUI Blamed for Triple Fatal La Puente Crash

La Puente, CA –  A suspected DUI driver survived a tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of three individuals on Tuesday night. The incident took place at the intersection of North Azusa Avenue and East Temple Avenue around 10:43 p.m. on January 14.

The alleged driver, 24-year-old Yasmin Flores Magana, was traveling south on Azusa Avenue in a 2023 Jeep Wrangler at an excessive speed. Reports indicate that she ran a red light, subsequently colliding with a westbound 2018 Nissan Versa that was occupied by three men, as per the information provided by the California Highway Patrol.

As a result of the impact, both vehicles spun southwest. The Nissan struck a metal pole, while the Jeep flipped over, according to the CHP.

Tragically, all three victims were men in their early twenties. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner revealed the identities of two: 23-year-old Carlos Cardona and 21-year-old Jossue de Leon Villegas.

Flores was taken to the hospital for treatment of pain and subsequently placed under arrest.
