Halloran Summit, CA (August 17, 2025) – A fatal crash occurred early Sunday morning on northbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 170. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved a black SUV rear-ending a semi-truck around 6:13 a.m. on August 17.
Both vehicles came to rest on opposite sides of the freeway. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second occupant was transported to the hospital by ground ambulance. Their condition has not been disclosed. The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the collision.
The crash temporarily closed the freeway for emergency operations, and the CHP Barstow Station is currently investigating the incident.
