South Los Angeles, CA (Sept 01, 2025) – Two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies were injured in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles around 11 p.m. on Monday night, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at the intersection of 98th Street and Vermont Avenue when the deputies’ patrol cruiser collided with an older sedan. Following the collision, the driver of the sedan fled on foot, leaving the deputies behind.
Video footage from AIR7 showed the patrol car crashing into the base of a utility tower after the impact. The injured deputies were quickly transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Several law enforcement vehicles were seen parked near the ambulance bay as part of the response. One person was detained by authorities, though it remains unclear what role they played in the crash.
The incident is under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
