Ramona, CA (October 14, 2025) – A 35-year-old woman was killed and a 42-year-old man seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing State Route 78 in Ramona on Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The collision occurred around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, just west of Seventh Street. Authorities reported that the pedestrians, a 35-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, were crossing in low-light conditions when a Toyota, driven by a 19-year-old man from Ramona, struck them. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was transported to a hospital with major injuries. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were unharmed.
CHP indicated that driving under the influence may have been a factor in the collision. The investigation remains ongoing.
