Tracy, CA - 66-Year-Old Man Killed in Alleged Hit-and-Run Accident on I-580

Tracy, CA (September 21, 2025) – A 66-year-old man from Tracy tragically lost his life in an alleged hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning on Interstate 580 in Tracy. The incident occurred at around 4:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes, just west of the Grant Line Road exit.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 21-year-old Stockton man was driving a Honda Accord when he crashed into the back of a black Tesla Model Y, which was being driven by a Tracy man. The driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Stockton driver was transported to Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton with moderate injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

The CHP is actively handling the investigation into this tragic accident.
