Orange, CA - 80-Years Old Pedestrian Killed in Drunk Driving Accident on W. La Veta Ave Near Silktree Circle

Orange, CA (September 21, 2025) – An 80-year-old pedestrian was killed on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in a collision involving a vehicle on W. La Veta Avenue near Silktree Circle in Orange. The crash occurred shortly before 8:00 p.m., according to local authorities.

The Orange City Fire Department and patrol officers responded to the scene, where it was reported that the pedestrian was walking south across the street outside a marked crosswalk when struck by a sedan. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Bryan Reyes of Santa Ana, was reportedly intoxicated at the time.

Reyes was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and booked at the Orange County Jail (OCJ). The Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.

The crash prompted temporary road closures on W. La Veta Avenue in both directions from Silktree Circle to Bedford Road for approximately six hours while authorities conducted the investigation.
