Citrus Heights, CA - Woman Seriously Injured in Suspected DUI Crash with Children

Citrus Heights, CA (May 17, 2025) – A 35-year-old Doris Meretz was seriously injured in a suspected DUI head-on collision at Old Auburn Road and Bonita Way, the Citrus Heights Police Department reports.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, when the driver, with her two children aboard, struck another vehicle head-on. Emergency crews transported the woman to a hospital with major injuries; her children were unhurt and placed in protective custody.

Police suspect alcohol or drugs played a role and are considering felony DUI charges. Old Auburn Road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
