Pala, CA (October 17, 2025) – A driver sustained minor injuries late Friday night after a vehicle went off the road and plunged roughly 600 feet down an embankment along State Route 76, west of the Casino Pauma area, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash happened around 9:55 p.m. when a black Toyota RAV4 traveling eastbound veered off the roadway and down a steep hillside near mile marker 76262. Fire crews and CHP officers arrived to find the vehicle at the bottom of the ravine. The driver was rescued and transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Due to the difficult terrain, recovery crews were unable to retrieve the vehicle overnight and planned to resume recovery efforts in the morning.
We wish the injured driver a full and speedy recovery.
Car Accidents in California
Single-vehicle accidents can still result in significant injuries and property damage. Even when no other driver is involved, victims may have the right to seek compensation through insurance claims or other liable parties, such as those responsible for hazardous road conditions or vehicle defects.
Under California law, victims generally have two years from the date of the accident to file a personal injury claim. Missing this deadline can result in losing your right to recover damages.
