Modesto, CA – Driver Seriously Injured in Street Racing Crash on Highway 99

Modesto, CA (August 10, 2025) – A driver was ejected and suffered major injuries Sunday afternoon following a street racing crash on northbound Highway 99 near Standiford Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

CHP reports that a Corvette and a Mustang were racing when the Corvette’s driver lost control, leaving the right shoulder. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to rest on Sisk Road. The driver was ejected from the car and sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the Mustang fled the scene but was later located at their home in Manteca, where they were arrested by officers.

The CHP emphasized the dangers of street racing, warning that high-speed reckless driving puts lives at risk.
