Fatal Motorcycle Accidents in California: Know Your Legal Rights
Motorcycle accidents can be catastrophic due to the lack of protection riders have in collisions. Fatal motorcycle crashes in California often result in life-changing emotional and financial consequences for the victims’ families. Under California law, surviving family members may be entitled to compensation for funeral costs, loss of financial support, pain and suffering, and emotional distress.
If the accident was caused by another driver’s negligence, the victims’ families may file a wrongful death claim. Even in cases where fault is unclear, an experienced California wrongful death lawyer can help investigate the incident, review CHP reports, and determine if negligence such as speeding, driving under the influence, or failure to yield played a role.
California law provides a two-year statute of limitations for filing a wrongful death lawsuit. It’s crucial to act quickly to preserve evidence and witness testimony before it is lost.
