Elk Grove, CA (May 10, 2025) – A man was killed early Saturday morning after crashing his vehicle into a tree near the intersection of Elk Grove Boulevard and Backer Ranch Road, according to the Elk Grove Police Department.

Officers responded to the scene just before 5:30 a.m. and located the male driver, who was pronounced dead on arrival. His identity and age have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, police have stated that alcohol may have been a factor, though this has not been confirmed. “We do have some suspicions that alcohol may have been involved, but I can’t say that for sure,” said Elk Grove PD spokesperson Christina Gonzales.

Elk Grove Boulevard was closed for several hours as investigators examined the scene but has since reopened. Authorities continue to gather evidence to determine the sequence of events leading to the fatal crash.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
