[04-06-2025] - Four Killed in High-Speed DUI Suspected Crash Into Tree on Segerstrom Avenue in Santa Ana

Santa Ana, CA – A devastating high-speed crash left four people dead and two others hospitalized late Saturday night in Santa Ana. The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Segerstrom Avenue and Griset Place, where a westbound vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree. According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the vehicle was carrying six occupants—five females and one male—when it veered off the road at a high rate of speed and slammed into a tree near a residential curb. The impact was so violent that debris scattered across the opposite lanes, striking two unrelated vehicles. Both of those vehicles sustained damage but no injuries, and they were towed from the scene.

Authorities confirmed that four of the vehicle’s occupants, including the 18-year-old male driver, two teenage girls, and one adult woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two surviving passengers, both teenagers, were transported to a nearby hospital—one remains in stable condition, while the other is in what police described as “very grave condition.” Police say all four victims who died were between the ages of 13 and 18. No names have been released pending family notification. Investigators are actively looking into whether driving under the influence played a role in the crash, and the case remains under investigation.

Traffic on Segerstrom Avenue was shut down for several hours overnight as Santa Ana officers and emergency crews responded, secured the area, and cleared the wreckage. The force of the crash and the age of the victims have left the local community shaken. Law enforcement urges anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward. Our thoughts go out to the families affected by this heartbreaking loss.
