[03-31-2025] – San Jose Freeway Crash Injures One in Multi Vehicle Collision on Interstate 880 Near Airport Boulevard

San Jose, CAย โ€” A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 880 South near the Airport Boulevard on-ramp left at least one person injured Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The crash was reported at approximately 11:44 AM, just north of the on-ramp and near Mineta San Jose International Airport. The incident caused major delays in the southbound lanes as several vehicles blocked traffic.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, providing medical aid to the injured. At least one individual was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The total number of people involved and the extent of the injuries have not yet been confirmed.

Following the crash, multiple lanes were obstructed, leading to temporary slowdowns in the area. Tow trucks were dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles, and CHP officers managed the scene to ensure the safe flow of traffic during the cleanup process.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the crash. CHP officials are looking into factors such as:

  • Speeding

  • Tailgating

  • Unsafe lane changes

No citations or arrests have been reported as of this writing.

โ€œMotorists are reminded to maintain safe distances and stay alert, especially on high-speed roadways like I-880,โ€ CHP stated.
