Laguna Beach, CA (October 05, 2025) – A fatal solo-vehicle collision occurred yesterday on southbound Interstate 405 near Laguna Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident happened around 11:33 p.m., involving a red Pontiac sedan that collided with the right-side wall and possibly struck a utility pole. Emergency personnel reported the driver was unconscious inside the vehicle, and airbags had deployed.
The coroner was called to the scene. CHP flared off multiple lanes and cleared debris scattered across the roadway while responding to the crash.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and no other vehicles were involved.
