Laguna Beach, CA (May 26, 2025) – A tragic accident on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a 64-year-old Laguna Beach man and serious injuries to his 15-year-old daughter.
According to the Laguna Beach Police Department, the father and daughter were in a driving lesson in a closed Gelson’s market parking lot between Wesley Drive and Montage Resort Drive. The teenager, who had a driver’s permit, was driving the sedan when the car rolled through a fence and down an embankment, eventually ending up upside down on the sidewalk of Coast Highway just before 2:45 p.m.
The father, identified as a 64-year-old Laguna Beach resident, was fatally injured in the crash, while his daughter was taken to Mission Hospital in stable condition. As of Tuesday evening, the teenager remained hospitalized with serious injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
