San Diego, CA (May 3, 2025) – A multi-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 805 near 43rd Street claimed one life and left several others injured Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 8:50 a.m. and involved five vehicles. Authorities say 27-year-old Markus Eugene Turner was driving a black Honda sedan when he struck a silver Toyota sedan parked on the freeway shoulder. The impact triggered a chain reaction involving a blue Honda sedan, a white Toyota sedan, and a nearby silver Nissan SUV that was damaged by flying debris.
Emergency personnel transported Turner, two of his passengers, and the driver of the blue Honda to a local hospital. Injuries ranged from minor to severe. The driver of the silver Toyota, who had been stopped on the shoulder, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following medical evaluation, Turner was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the San Diego County Jail. CHP is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim, and we wish a full recovery to those injured.
