Mendocino, CA - Two Injured After Car Falls Down Embankment on Highway 1

Mendocino, CA (April 14, 2025) – Two people were injured Monday night when a car went off the roadway and fell approximately 95 feet down an embankment along Highway 1 near Main Street, according to local authorities.

The crash was reported around 10:36 p.m., prompting a response from emergency personnel and the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office. Officials initially suspected a second vehicle may have been involved, but confirmed only one vehicle was located.

Both occupants of the car sustained injuries, though none were reported as life-threatening. The vehicle was found upright at the bottom of the embankment. Towing services faced delays due to the terrain and a lack of proper equipment.

At 11:12 p.m., the California Highway Patrol reclassified the incident from a major injury crash to one involving minor injuries.

We hope for a swift recovery for those injured in the crash.
