Modesto, CA – Amazon Big Rig Collides With Pickup Truck on SR-99, Multiple Injured

Modesto, CA (Sept 10, 2026) – A big rig accident took place on a major roadway in Modesto Thursday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 6:36 p.m. in the southbound lanes of State Route 99 near the Taylor Road off-ramp. Police confirmed that an Amazon big rig was traveling in the area when it collided with a black pickup truck for reasons that remain unknown.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene. One or more people sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

No further details have been released, and the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this crash and their families during their recovery.

What Are Your Legal Options After a Commercial Truck Crash in California?

Crashes involving large commercial trucks, like this one involving an Amazon big rig, are often more complicated than typical car accidents. If you or a loved one was injured, here is what you should know.

Commercial trucking cases can involve more than one responsible party. Unlike a standard two-car crash, a claim involving a company big rig may involve the truck driver, the trucking or delivery company, and potentially a separate maintenance contractor. Driver logs, company safety records, and federal trucking regulations may all play a role in determining what happened and who bears responsibility.

Injuries from big rig crashes tend to be severe. Given the size and weight difference between a commercial truck and a passenger vehicle, injuries in these crashes are often serious, requiring extensive treatment, surgery, or long-term care.

Large companies often move quickly to protect themselves. Companies like Amazon frequently have investigators and legal teams at a crash scene within hours, especially when a company vehicle is involved. Having your own representation early helps ensure evidence isn’t only gathered from the other side’s perspective.

Time limits matter. California generally allows two years from the date of a crash to file a claim, though truck accident cases benefit from an early, independent investigation while facts and evidence are still fresh.

Every case is different, and no outcome can be guaranteed. But understanding your options as early as possible gives you the best chance to protect your rights.
