Modesto, CA – One Dead, Three Injured in Mitchell Rd Head-On Crash

Modesto, CA (May 28, 2025) – One woman died and three others were injured Wednesday when an SUV crossed into oncoming traffic on Mitchell Road near Tenaya Drive, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The crash occurred just before 6:00 a.m. when a 2025 Ford SUV veered into the southbound lane and struck a 2007 Cadillac head-on. The Ford driver, a 53-year-old Modesto woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passengers, a 34-year-old Hughson woman and a 67-year-old Waterford man, suffered major injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. The Cadillac driver sustained minor injuries.

CHP investigators are probing whether speed, distraction, impairment, or a medical issue led to the crash.
