San Diego, CA (August 15, 2025) – A tragic collision at the intersection of Poway Road and Sabre Springs Parkway claimed the lives of two people early Friday, according to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD).
Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after midnight when an 18-year-old woman riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Poway Road ran a red light. Her motorcycle struck a Mitsubishi Montero SUV that was turning left onto Poway Road from Sabre Springs Parkway under a green arrow signal.
The impact hit the driver’s side of the SUV. The 18-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV’s driver, a 72-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
