Placer County, CA (September 24, 2025) – A fatal traffic collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 80 in Placer County, involving two motorcycles and a car. The crash happened in a construction zone near Crystal Springs Road, east of Gold Run.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision caused road closures in both directions of I-80. Westbound lanes have fully reopened, while eastbound lanes remain closed, with traffic diverted at the Crystal Springs Road off-ramp.
CHP has not provided an estimated time for reopening the eastbound lanes.
