Nevada County, CA (June 26, 2025) – Three people were seriously injured in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon on Highway 20, west of Grass Valley, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Rex Reservoir Road when a vehicle driving eastbound crossed into oncoming traffic for reasons still under investigation, crashing head-on into another vehicle. The drivers of both vehicles, along with the sole passenger in the vehicle that was hit, sustained major injuries. One of the drivers was airlifted to a hospital in Placer County.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, blocking the westbound lanes of Highway 20 to clear the wreckage. Traffic delays were reported in the area, and drivers are advised to take alternate routes.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
