Sacramento, CA (April 23, 2025) – A young cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon in North Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident occurred around 3:05 p.m. at the intersection of Dewey Drive and Mercy Court.
Officers arrived at the scene to find a juvenile who had been struck by a vehicle. Emergency crews provided immediate medical aid before transporting the injured child to UC Davis Medical Center with a broken leg and additional injuries.
Authorities noted that the vehicle involved stayed at the scene, but the driver reportedly did not cooperate with emergency personnel. The crash has been classified as a major injury collision under incident code 1180.
The circumstances leading to the collision are still under investigation. No citations or charges have been reported so far. The community has since voiced concerns regarding traffic safety in the area.
