Oakland, CA (July 05, 2025) – A serious traffic collision involving multiple vehicles resulted in major injuries early Saturday morning on southbound I-880, just south of the 7th St onramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At approximately 1:06 a.m., the crash occurred, involving at least two vehicles, including a white Dodge Charger and a white Honda sedan. Witnesses reported hearing the collision from behind a nearby sound wall, and upon CHP units’ arrival, significant smoke and hazardous debris were found across multiple lanes.
First responders, including paramedics and fire crews, quickly worked to assist those injured in the crash. At least one person was transported to the hospital with major injuries. Additionally, a black Mercedes was reported to have been damaged by debris from the crash.
The incident caused traffic disruptions, with all lanes initially stopped. Later, only one lane was reopened during the early stages of the investigation. Traffic delays continued as tow services cleared the vehicles and debris from the freeway.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with early reports suggesting speed may have been a factor. CHP units confirmed that one vehicle had been classified under reckless driving prior to the incident.
We extend our thoughts to those affected by this serious accident and wish for a full and swift recovery.
Car Accidents in California
Car crashes occur daily across California on major corridors, including Highway 99, Interstate 5, and busy urban roads such as Florin Road and Laurel Canyon Boulevard. These areas experience frequent collisions due to speeding, sudden lane changes, and driver distraction. Common accident types include rear-end impacts, intersection crashes, and left-turn collisions. These often lead to injuries such as fractures, head trauma, or back strain, many requiring hospitalization and time away from work. Accidents near schools, business districts, and freeway on-ramps can also affect pedestrians or cyclists, making emergency response more complex. Even minor crashes may result in long-term recovery and vehicle damage. That’s why getting help from an experienced California car accident attorney is essential.
