Huntington Beach, CA (October 20, 2025) – A bicyclist was killed, and two others were injured Monday morning after a car struck them from behind along Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Street, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).
The crash occurred shortly after 6:45 a.m., when a 2006 gold Mercedes E-Class entered the bike lane and hit three cyclists riding together. Responding officers found all three adult male bicyclists in the roadway. One victim died at the scene, while the other two sustained severe injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Police later arrested 43-year-old Amber Calderon of Long Beach about half a mile from the crash site. She faces charges of felony hit-and-run, gross vehicular manslaughter, and possession of narcotics. The HBPD said the investigation is ongoing to determine whether impairment or other factors contributed to the crash.
