Phelan, CA (September 22, 2025) – A fatal head-on collision involving a semi-truck and a gray sedan occurred Monday afternoon on State Route 18 in Phelan, California. The crash, which took place at around 4:46 p.m., occurred just east of Blanco Road.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that a Freightliner semi-truck collided head-on with the sedan. According to a passenger in the semi-truck, the sedan crossed into the truck’s lane, leading to the deadly crash.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:01 p.m. Following the incident, a Sheriff-Coroner representative was called to the location to handle the fatality.
As investigators worked the scene, State Route 18 at Sheep Creek Road and Oasis Road were closed for an extended period, causing traffic delays in the area.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident.
