Bakersfield, CA - Pedestrian Injured in Traffic Collision on SR-184 Near Wharton Avenue

Bakersfield, CA (August 29, 2025) – Yesterday evening, a pedestrian was seriously injured in a traffic collision on SR-184 near Wharton Avenue, in the Las Islitas area. The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes.

All southbound traffic was temporarily halted as emergency responders, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP), arrived on the scene to provide assistance and secure the area. Witnesses reported seeing the pedestrian in the lanes, while no other vehicles were immediately observed at the location.

The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances of the collision.
