Orange, CA (August 27, 2025) – A pedestrian was tragically killed after being struck by an Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy patrol car on East Chapman Avenue on Wednesday night, according to the Orange Police Department.
The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. in the 3500 block of East Chapman Avenue. Authorities reported that the male pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by the sheriff’s vehicle. The deputy, who was traveling westbound in the number two lane, stopped immediately after the collision.
Paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the location. The victim’s identity has not been released.
A nearby worker reported seeing the sheriff’s patrol car collide with a white car before the pedestrian was struck. However, police have not confirmed whether a second vehicle was involved in the incident.
The Orange Police Department is continuing the investigation into the crash.
