San Diego, CA – Fatal Crash Reported on I-805 South Near 43rd St On-Ramp

San Diego, CA (April 15, 2025) – A fatal crash occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 805 South near the 43rd Street on-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at approximately 2:16 a.m. Emergency responders from San Diego Fire-Rescue, CHP, and local law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. The collision was confirmed to have occurred on the freeway side of the on-ramp.

At least one fatality has been confirmed. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the next of kin.

Investigators, including members of the CHP Incident Scene Unit, documented the site and utilized drone support from Chula Vista Police for aerial assessment. An encampment was noted near the 47th Street offramp, though further details about involvement remain under investigation.

By 3:26 a.m., CHP confirmed that stabilization and recovery operations were complete.
