San Francisco, CA – Woman Dies After Being Struck and Dragged by Vehicle in South of Market

San Francisco, CA (May 27, 2025) – A tragic incident in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood Tuesday morning led to the death of a woman after she was struck by a vehicle and dragged for about a block.

At around 5:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian collision at 10th and Harrison streets. Upon arrival, they found the woman with life-threatening injuries. According to police, she had been struck by a vehicle and dragged for a significant distance.

Authorities later revealed that the woman had willingly lain down in the middle of the street prior to the crash, as confirmed by video footage showing the moments leading up to the incident. Despite initial medical aid at the scene, the woman was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, and authorities are investigating the possibility of impairment, as they suspect alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the incident.

The area from 10th Street, between Folsom and Bryant streets, was closed for several hours while the San Francisco Police Department conducted their investigation. Motorists were advised to avoid the area as crews worked to clear the scene.
