Sunset, CA (June 27, 2025) – A 24-year-old man was killed early Friday morning in a crash involving a compact car and a big rig on northbound Highway 99 near Paseo Road, just south of Live Oak.
The collision occurred around 4:27 a.m., with the big rig crashing into a fence and the compact car blocking multiple lanes. The driver of the compact car was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending family notification.
The driver of the big rig did not report serious injuries, but an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. The area was closed to traffic for several hours while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene.
