Susanville, CA (May 19, 2025) – One person was seriously injured Monday afternoon when a Toyota Prius collided with a pickup truck on the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, according to CHP.
The crash occurred around 2:25 p.m., northwest of Susanville near mile marker 44, when the Prius drifted into oncoming traffic and struck the pickup’s front end. The impact forced the Prius off the roadway and resulted in major front-end damage.
A Susanville Cal Fire helicopter airlifted the injured individual to a hospital for treatment. The CHP traffic collision unit is investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
