San Diego, CA – Teen Pickup Truck Driver Hits 13-Year-Old Girl on E-Bike in Black Mountain Ranch

San Diego, CA (August 10, 2025) – A 13-year-old girl riding an electric bicycle was seriously injured Sunday night in the Black Mountain Ranch neighborhood of San Diego. The accident happened around 9:18 p.m. on August 10 at the intersection of Babcock Street and Paseo Del Sur, according to the San Diego Police Department.

A 16-year-old boy driving a Toyota pickup truck was traveling northbound on Babcock Street. He made a left turn onto Paseo Del Sur and struck the girl, who was riding her e-bike southbound. Both had green lights, but police say the pickup driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the girl, causing the collision.

The injured girl sustained a fractured right femur and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The pickup driver remained at the scene and was not suspected of impairment. The San Diego Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
