El Dorado County, CA (August 10, 2025) – Two people tragically lost their lives and one person sustained injuries following a severe single-vehicle crash that occurred along Highway 49 south of Crystal Boulevard near Shingle Springs on the evening of August 10, 2025. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident happened around 7:15 p.m.
The CHP reported that the vehicle left the roadway, collided with a rock and dirt embankment, and subsequently overturned. Two adult occupants of the vehicle died at the scene. A third adult passenger was injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The extent of these injuries has not been disclosed.
Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the crash, including whether alcohol or drugs may have played a role. All occupants involved have been confirmed to be adults.
