Hidden Valley Lake, CA (September 11, 2025) – A head-on collision on Highway 29 in Hidden Valley Lake claimed the lives of two women and left another injured on Thursday afternoon, officials reported.
The crash occurred around 2:35 p.m. near milepost 29.12, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Clear Lake office. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased as a 92-year-old and an 83-year-old, both residents of Hidden Valley Lake.
Investigators said the 92-year-old was driving a southbound Ford Edge when her vehicle crossed into the northbound lane for reasons still under investigation, colliding with a Nissan Altima driven by a 58-year-old woman from Lower Lake. The Altima’s front passenger, the 83-year-old resident, died at the scene, while the 92-year-old driver was transported to a hospital and later succumbed to her injuries. The Altima driver sustained moderate injuries and received medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed that all three women were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and drugs or alcohol are not suspected as contributing factors. Emergency responders worked at the scene, and Highway 29 was temporarily closed before one-way traffic control was implemented to clear the roadway.
