Solano County, CA (Aug 30, 2026) – The California Highway Patrol suspects driving under the influence was a factor in a deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate 505 near Putah Creek Road in Winters on Sunday.
According to officers, a 45-year-old man made a U-turn on the highway and began driving in the wrong direction. He then crashed head-on into another vehicle, killing a 66-year-old woman from Vacaville.
Three additional vehicles sustained damage after striking debris scattered from the initial collision.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and will be booked into jail once he is medically cleared, officers said.
