Yuba County, CA – 90-Year-Old Driver Hospitalized After Highway 20 Crash Near North Levee Road

Yuba County, CA (April 8, 2025) – A 90-year-old man sustained major injuries in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of Highway 20 and North Levee Road near the Recology Yuba-Sutter Transfer Station, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. and involved a black 1994 Chevy attempting to turn onto Hwy 20 from North Levee Rd and a red 1994 Chevy traveling eastbound on the highway. Investigators say the driver of the black Chevy, a Live Oak resident, believed it was safe to enter the highway but pulled out in front of oncoming traffic. The red Chevy swerved in an attempt to avoid the crash but struck the front-left portion of the black vehicle.

The 90-year-old driver of the black Chevy suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. His passenger, an 85-year-old woman also from Live Oak, was evaluated for pain-related injuries. All four occupants of the red Chevy, who were from Marysville, also sustained pain-related injuries and were taken to a nearby medical center.

CHP officers responded quickly and continue to investigate the cause of the collision. No citations have been issued at this time.
