Fatal House Fires in California
Typically, a fire that destroys your house, place of business, or other property is financially, physically, and emotionally taxing. Fires often result in serious injuries, property losses, and even fatalities. Extensive fire damage may sometimes result in a family home’s destruction. The first step in rebuilding after a fire damages your house or place of business is to claim with your insurance company to have your losses covered. But what happens if your insurance company refuses to pay for the replacement of your house and belongings or if a negligent property manager or owner is responsible for your damages?
Anybody who owns, rents, occupies, or controls any property in California is considered negligent if they do not maintain the property reasonably safe, per state law. For instance, according to California’s premises liability rules, businesses have to take reasonable precautions to identify potentially dangerous conditions and replace, correct, or provide sufficient notice of hazards to visitors.
