Vacaville, CA – Scott Goss, Age 57, Struck and Dragged in Hit-and-Run on Alamo Drive

Hit-and-Run on Alamo Drive

Vacaville, CA (August 9, 2026) – Scott Goss, 57, was struck from behind by a vehicle on Alamo Drive, dragged along the road, and left lying in the street by a driver who fled the scene, his family said.

According to his family, Goss was traveling south on Alamo Drive around 2:30 a.m. on August 9, 2026, heading to a nearby 7-Eleven when the crash occurred. The vehicle hit him from behind, dragged him, and left the scene without stopping. His family said the impact shredded his clothing and left road rash across his body.

Vacaville Police found Goss in the roadway next to a scooter. The police report indicates the driver went up on the curb at the point of impact. While Goss lay in the road, his family said three or four cars drove past without stopping. He called 911 himself using his cell phone.

Goss was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. He has already undergone one surgery on his foot. His family said doctors are still determining whether a second surgery on his wrist will be needed.

The Vacaville Police Department is investigating. Authorities say the area of Alamo Drive has several cameras, including intersection cameras and a Flock camera on the road, which investigators hope will assist in identifying the driver. Anyone who witnessed the crash or passed through the area that night is asked to contact Vacaville Police at 707-449-5286.

This is a developing story. Details may change as the investigation continues.

Being struck, dragged, and left alone in the road by a driver who never stopped is a particular kind of harm, and the person responsible has not yet been identified.

Hit-and-Run Accident Claims in Vacaville, California

Hit-and-run crashes raise specific legal questions when the at-fault driver has not yet been found. What Scott Goss and his family should know:

  • Even when the at-fault driver has not been identified, a claim may be available under the victim’s own uninsured motorist coverage. California law requires insurers to offer UM coverage, and a hit-and-run qualifies as an uninsured motorist event under most policies.
  • Who else may be involved: if the driver is later identified and found to have been impaired or fleeing another incident, additional liability angles may apply; if the scooter had a mechanical defect that affected what happened, a product liability claim may also be worth examining
  • What investigators and attorneys work to preserve: footage from the intersection cameras and Flock camera on Alamo Drive, vehicle debris, paint transfers, tire marks, and witness statements from anyone who drove through the area that night
  • Do not give a recorded statement to any insurance company, including your own, before consulting an attorney; adjusters use these statements to limit payouts even in clear hit-and-run cases
  • California follows a pure comparative fault rule, meaning that any shared responsibility reduces a recovery proportionally rather than eliminating it
  • Personal injury claims in California must generally be filed within two years of the date of the crash (CCP 335.1). This crash occurred on August 9, 2026, placing the filing deadline at August 9, 2028.
